A Popular Roller Coaster at the West Edmonton Mall Amusement Park Will be Decommissioned.

EDMONTON — After almost 40 years in operation, a beloved roller-coaster at North America’s biggest retail mall is being decommissioned.

While the Mindbender will be missed, West Edmonton Mall’s vice president of parks and attractions said in a statement that the mall is eager to reveal new plans for the property.

The Mindbender was the highest and longest indoor, triple-loop roller-coaster in the world.

Three people were killed on Galaxyland’s roller coaster in 1986, forcing the mall to close it for a year to make safety improvements.

Galaxyland debuted in 1983, although it was known as Fantasyland until 1995.

In 2022, the park teamed with Hasbro to showcase rides licensed from the series.
