Jetiquette – The Dos and Don’ts When Flying on a Private Jet

Air travel has significantly changed since COVID-19 first stunned the world. Passengers have had to adjust to health and safety protocols, such as wearing face masks (and face shields in some countries or destinations) and undergoing a swab test before traveling.

Despite the changes and adjustments, however, people have been flocking to airports in the past months. Some travelers go as far as halfway around the globe to visit relatives they haven’t seen for years, while others finally have the opportunity (and courage) to go on a vacation. Many have also gone back to traveling for business purposes.

For some travelers, the changes can be overwhelming and inconvenient. Other travelers are not comfortable traveling for hours in a confined space with people they do not know. This is one of the reasons why more and more people prefer to fly safe with private jet flights.

Flying Private

Aside from the comfort and convenience of privacy offered by private jets, there are other reasons why traveling on chartered flights is preferred by many, especially in these trying times:

  • It’s stress-free and saves time because you don’t have to deal with long lines in crowded spaces. You don’t have to worry about tedious procedures because chartered private jets have their terminal. Check-in is a breeze. It saves you a lot of time since you are guaranteed to fly within at least 15 minutes of your arrival at the airport.
  • You can do whatever you want during the flight: eat, sleep, read, work on your laptop, go to a conference with your business associates, or drink some wine.
  • It’s luxurious. Private jets are stocked with all the luxurious amenities you can think of. Plush reclining seats that you can stretch out and sleep comfortably in, couches or mini beds, an entertainment system, a minibar, and other luxuries you can think of. You can even request buffet service or your favorite brand of wine or beer.
  • Schedules and itineraries are flexible, and flying to smaller airports is never a problem.
  • You can bring your pets.

Dos and Don’ts for Private Jet Travelers

If it is your first time flying on a private jet, the experience can be overwhelming. It’s a completely different concept from the commercial flights you have been used to, so you have some adjustments to do, particularly regarding what you should and should not do before, during, and after the flight.

Packing just the right amount of clothes, arriving at the airport early or on time, bringing all the necessary documents and IDs, dressing appropriately (especially when traveling for a business purpose), and ensuring that your pet is properly groomed before boarding on the plane are only some of the dos and don’ts that you should keep in mind. There are several others.

To help you better understand (and visualize), here is an infographic that illustrates all the dos and don’ts that you should familiarize before your private jet flight.
